Individualized Medicine: procedures, techniques, perspectives

Time: 7-8 September 2009
Place: ICM UW, ul. Żwirki i Wigury 93

Organizers:

  • Interdisciplinary Centre for Mathematical and Computational Modelling of University of Warsaw
  • 2nd Faculty of Medicine of Medical University of Warsaw
  • Institute of Radioelectronics of Warsaw University of Technology

The essential scope of the symposium included the subjects covered by the widely understood keyword of individualised (personalised) medicine, including electronic atlases of anatomy, computer-aided diagnosis, virtual reality, computer-aided surgery, medical data visualization, model-based medicine or medical image processing. The main purpose of the symposium was to exchange the current information regarding the existing solutions and trends in the field of personalised medicine and to create a platform to exchange experience and ideas between medical practitioners, engineers, mathematicians and IT specialists.

The outstanding Polish scientists and physicians – Professor Bogdan Ciszek, Professor Jerzy Gielecki and Profesor Wiesław Nowiński of Singapore Biomedical Imaging Lab were among many invited lecturers.

34 persons attended to the symposium; 14 lecturers gave 23 lectures, 4 posters were presented.

The lecturers represented the following institutions:

General description:

The main objective of the project is to create distributed archiving and processing systems for medical graphic data acquired from cardiological diagnostic. A grid-type network technology will be applied which operates almost in real time which allows processing and modelling of different classes of both static and dynamic multimodal data.

Cardiology is the direct domain of application of the system under construction but the created IT tools may be used in other fields of telemedicine.
